Hi, I’m Carmen Lanteigne.

This is my next iteration as a Pilates teacher.

I’ve always considered myself a teacher, but nowadays, I see myself as a guide for people interested in creating a lifestyle centered around Pilates. For many years, I’ve honed my skills working with first and second-generation teachers, and have helped many people start their Pilates journey, leading them to a transformation beyond the physical aspect.

Since starting Aligned Pilates in 2007, I have been obsessed with creating a space where people come to practice traditional Pilates. Today, it is as close as I envision it to be for those who champion the idea of following their instincts when it comes to moving their bodies.

The Space

The moving parts of Aligned Pilates include specialty apparatus—Reformers, Mats, Cadillac, Chairs, Barrels, and other auxiliary apparatus that help teach people about their bodies, improve flexibility, develop a strong torso, work alignment, and ignite the mind-body connection that is often dimly lit in many of us.

The byproduct of consistent Pilates practice is harmony in the body. This feeling of balance and well-being within a person makes navigating a stress-filled world more peaceful. My favorite moments are when people share how Pilates has changed them beyond the physical, and when questions come up, I listen to how I can guide them further in their experience. It is a rewarding time for me and the people I come in contact with. I listen, and they listen. We both win.

In the words of one of my favorite teachers, Jay Grimes, “Every student that comes through that door is your teacher; you just have to listen.”

I am grateful for every student who has trusted me to share Joseph Pilates's work with them.

PS. My little dog, Pablo, sometimes will join me in the studio, watching people practice from his comfortable bed.

Working with Carmen

Over the many years of teaching, I have a few ideas that will help people interested in Pilates as a lifestyle and the success that will come from it.

ACCESS TO THE SPACE

INCOMPARABLE to the mass gym experience, students can fully immerse themselves in access to the entire studio under guidance in their workouts. Each person works on the program inherent to their body and moves independently throughout the studio. I encourage self-directed practice as much as possible.

Consistent Training

To experience a significant transformation, students commit to practicing two to three times a week at Aligned, including a home mat practice, which builds a strong foundation in the body, improves technique, and unlocks the body's potential to master the work of Pilates.

Be Open-Minded

Pilates is a unique discipline that requires time and dedication. It may initially feel unfamiliar and challenging, so I always say, “Don’t quit before the magic happens!" Allowing the workout to change a person and having an open-mind to new experiences, people experience the incredible physical and mental benefits of Pilates, which is why it is a lifestyle.

Pilates is not easy. It requires work.
