THE PROGRAM™

A Classical Pilates Teacher Certification

become The next Generation to Teach JOSEPH PILATES’ Method OF Exercise Called Contrology

THE PROGRAM™ Classical Pilates Teacher Certification is built on Carmen Lanteigne's 22 years of experience. Since her original obsession practicing Mari Winsor’ VHS tapes in 2000 to becoming a fully certified teacher in 2005, Carmen has study with world renowned teachers — Michele Larson (lineage of Eve Gentry), Amy Taylor Alpers & Rachel Taylor Segel (The Pilates Center) , Brooke Siler & Carey Regan, Jay Grimes & Vintage Pilates with Sandy Shimoda learning the work in her body and sharing it with her students at Aligned Pilates. With her knowledge and experience, Carmen has helped numerous students reach their potential in becoming enthusiasts for the work. In 2021, along with her business partner Noor Alamer, Jade Pilates Studio, launched an immersive classical pilates training certification called THE PROGRAM™.

BUILT ON EXPERIENCE

In 2017, Carmen was one of 12 teachers chosen from around the world to study with first generation teacher, Jay Grimes, in the prestigious graduate program called The Work ™ at Sandy Shimoda owner of Vintage Pilates in Los Angeles, CA. This opportunity brought Carmen’s work to a level of excellence in her body and transformed the way she sees the work. Today, Carmen loves nothing more than guiding students who are new and experienced to move with intention the way Joseph Pilates wanted in his own clients. Carmen keeps Jay’s guiding “isms” close to the heart — keep an open mind, change is good, and my own student is always my best teacher. Carmen sees the potential for Pilates in each person and lets the work change the person. Carmen fine tunes her skills by taking weekly lessons online with Lori-Coleman Brown and Teresa Shupe of Atlas Pilates in Seattle and is always bringing inspiration back into the room.

A STRONG FOUNDATION Of Joe’s Work

THE PROGRAM™ gives you direct access to knowledge of Joe’s original work that Carmen learned directly from Jay Grimes’ experience being a student with Joseph Pilates in the mid sixties. The apprentice is immersed in the traditional work of Joe Pilates using all of the apparatus making it a comprehensive experience. With a strong foundation, apprentices can integrate new information with confidence to their own work and transfer this knowledge to others.

Learn RIGHT-SIZED Information

Understanding Joe’s exercise method, Contrology, takes years of practice for many, and the aspiration to know the work and consider becoming a new teacher can be excitingly ambitious and daunting. THE PROGRAM™ provides an immersive opportunity to develop the work in the body building on information as it is being revealed throughout time spent in an apprenticeship.

The Emerging Teacher

THE PROGRAM™ is made for the new teacher in mind. With years of experience, Carmen knows what it takes to learn Joe’s work, and helps the student realize that TIME is not a threat to learning the work or even becoming that perfect teacher within a short training program. Carmen sees THE PROGRAM™ as an incubator or cocoon designed to create and maintain a stable, controlled environment that promotes the growth, and development of a new teacher. As the student becomes comfortable with their own practice, and TRUST in Joe’s work the ripple effect is creating a teacher that can stand confidently among their clients ready to share the work of Joseph Pilates.

Teaching this work is a responsibility I hold deeply. My team and I are here to guide you through the process of becoming a thoughtful, confident teacher—one who understands the depth of Joseph Pilates’ work and is ready to pass it on with integrity to the next generation.
— Carmen Lanteigne, Director of Education, THE PROGRAM™ & Team.
