At Aligned Pilates We are Pleased to offer the Best of the Best when It comes to Learning Joseph Pilates’ exercise method called Contrology.

I’m Carmen Lanteigne, owner of Aligned Pilates in Edmonton, Canada and we offer the best training, with the best equipment designs closest to the original apparatus used by Joseph Pilates. From taking your first Pilates lesson to becoming a certified Pilates teacher, if you place value on expertise, and professionalism we have something to offer you. Having honed my practice and teaching skills with first—and second-generation teachers for over twenty years I successfully start people on a journey of Pilates that becomes one of their most sustainable forms of exercise.

I do my best to listen and positively support each student’s needs. A favourite moment is when students share how Joe’s work teaches them something about themselves beyond the physical workout.

One of my extraordinary teachers, Jay Grimes said “Every student that comes through the door is your teacher; you just have to listen.”

I find it very rewarding to be a teacher and love working with those who are keen practice Joe’s work. Together, we get to co-create a wonderful experience that is uniquely personal.

The Space

Aligned Pilates is a space for those who champion following their instincts and willing to learn something new. With an open mind to new experiences, students quickly develop a sense of confidence necessary to become thoughtful movers. Through an immersed experience using Joe’s apparatus, students learn their work and what it takes to get results.

The space is equipped with Reformers, Mats, Cadillac, High Chair, Wunda Chair, Arm Chair, Barrels and other smaller apparatus that teach people how to find the right amount of strength, stretch and control within their bodies to execute Joe’s corrective exercises.

Train At Aligned

Having worked with many students over the years, I understand what it takes for people to learn Joseph Pilates work quickly, become lifelong practitioners, and for some develop a career as a certified teacher.

1. Direct ACCESS TO All Apparatus.

Having access to use all of Joe’s apparatus, students learn what exercises are good for their body. Usually it’s the ones we least like that are the best for us.

To move safely around the studio, exploring and practicing on a variety of apparatus is essential in developing one’s inner intuition of what feels good for the body.

Our different training options help students experience Contrology safely in their bodies and progress naturally. New students start with private lessons two times a week to build a foundation program. Once students develop as sense of confidence opportunity to move into small group classes are available such as the FUNdamentals Class and the Contrology Class for those more experienced that want to hone their practice. As students become more self-sufficient, Self-Practice is available with approval.

2. a Consistent Practice.

Students who commit to their practice at several times a week, whether in private lessons, small group classes, self practice, and at do their routine when not in the studio will experience a change in the body quickly. As the foundation work becomes fluent in the body new information can be better assimilated when learning new exercises and concepts.

3. An Open-Mind.

Practicing Joe’s work is not easy and requires discipline and time. It may initially feel unfamiliar and at times frustrating, but as the saying goes, “Don’t quit before the magic happens!"

The key to learning Contrology is to humbly come with an open mind, do the work, and trust that with each practice Joe’s exercises are doing the change in our body.
