A VISION FOR YOU

Donna S. is an enthusiastic practitioner. She can be found practicing her Contrology twice a week at Aligned Pilates.

Dear *Contrologist,

Long ago a man named Joseph Pilates had a vision for you — that if you practiced his method of exercise called Contrology faithfully and frequently several times a week a change to the body would occur. Today, I believe, like Joe, that his work can change the body if we dedicate ourselves to a consistent practice throughout the week.

Learning Contrology is not easy. It requires lots of effort, discipline, and honesty about our ability in our body. Those who find joy in the process of learning Contrology comes from having an open mind and commitment to practice.

A *Contrologist does not see time as a threat. Rather time is a gift and with lots of practice a change in the body happens as Joseph Pilates promised in his book Return To Life & Your Health.

We learn that Contrology is not something to do once in a while or quite the opposite by excessive repetitions so as to become work that is ad nauseam. Instead, we approach each practice thoughtfully and allow the work to settle in over time rather than rushing the process. We learn to relax and take it easy. These exercises are meant to be enjoyable, not frustrating and exhausting. When we become radically honest with our body’s ability we truly have a safe and peaceful workout.

It is my absolute privilege to be alongside you on this journey practising Contrology.

*A Contrologist is a practitioner of Contrology, the original name for what is now commonly known as Pilates. I have no idea if this is a made up word, but I like it:)
